Wedding Cakes Cake Flavours Grooms Cakes
First and for-most Congratulations on your engagement, this is a very exciting time. Planning a wedding can be a bit stressful, but we're here to make the cake bit that little bit easier and very enjoyable.
Your wedding day is certainly one you want to remember, and Daisy Brydon Creations wants to make it even more memorable, by creating a cake that will blow yours and your guests socks off. The wedding cake is the centrepiece to your party, and should be in total harmony to your theme and a reflection of your personalities. But first, here are a few tips to consider before designing your cake.
Would you like a whimsical, quirky, sculptured or contemporary cake? These things are the first decisions to determine the rest of your design.
To Tier or not to tier
For whimsical, quirky or contemporary cakes the next decision is to consider how many tiers you would like. This may be determined by how many guests you need to feed and if you are intending to keep the top tier for the christening or first wedding anniversary (this will have to be rich fruit cake). Dummy tiers can always be added to create a bit more height.
Have you thought about having a grooms cake alongside your wedding cake? Don't know what a grooms cake is? If you can't both decide on a cake you would like, don't worry, this happens more often that not, you are not alone. It can be a fun idea to have 2 cakes. One (Based on the Grooms ideas) for the rehearsal dinner, and one for the actual wedding day.... or even incorporate them together. It would really make the statement that the cake should make.
The heart of it
Then there is shape. Traditionally wedding cakes are round, but Daisy doesn't tend to stay in the box. As well as round, you could also go for square, hexagonal, petal or heart shapes. Shapes can be mixed up, no need to stay with one. Then... there is the topsy turvy cake.
What is your favourite flavour? Have more than one? Not a problem. Daisy can offer different flavours for different tiers. Check out our flavours list HERE.
Special dietary requests can be accommodated wherever possible, however Daisy can not guarantee that cakes will be totally free of gluten and nuts.
This is what makes your cake personal to you, so Daisy will work closely with you to create a cake that you can be proud of. When you come in for your consultation, please bring anything with you that you would like to inspire or add on to the cake. For example, colours, invitations, flowers, dress, theme etc. If you have your own toppers, bring these along with you too.
That which we call a rose
Are you having fresh flowers at your wedding? These can either be incorporated into your design. Alternatively have your flowers replicated in sugar to be kept as a reminder of your special day. These can be inserted in between tiers, cascading down the cake, or as a beautiful spray/bouquet on top.
Don't look, it's naked
For those who don't like sugarpaste (fondant), the new trend is the naked cake. This is a thin layer of buttercream to decorate the cake, perfect for spring, summer weddings.
Fresh Fruit Wedding Cakes
If you're getting married in the summer, it may be a nice idea to have a fresh fruit wedding cake. An example might be a 3 tiered deliciously moist vanilla sponge with light Italian meringue decorated generously with strawberries, blueberries, physalis and passion fruit wrapped in chocolate curls... mouth watering!
If you are having your wedding in a particular season and your theme matches this, Daisy has plenty of flavours and fillings and design ideas to be incorporated into the season.
Having a winter wedding? How about something different like a gingerbread house; any size, any design. Daisy recently created an 8ft gingerbread chimney, so really... any size!
Statement cakes & Cutting Cakes
Do you just want to make a statement, but don't want a huge cake and worries it won't feed all your guests? Don't worry, Daisy can also offer a cutting cake to match the flavours of the wedding cake so there will be plenty to go around.
Are you having a destination wedding? No problem, we are able to transport our creations to anywhere in the world!
I made 200 flowers yesterday..... it's still no enough 😂😱😭
